Factor Bikes Buyers Guide

Every Factor bike is highly engineered to deliver exceptional performance and ride quality, using the most advanced technology available. There are no mid-range models to hit price points; if it says Factor on the downtube, it’s the very best it can be.

Each model is designed with a focus on a particular type of riding. Of course, there are overlaps between models and we know that many of you enjoy a wide range of riding. That’s why we have assembled this Buyer’s Guide to help you to choose the Factor that’s perfect for you.

Scroll down the page or use the buttons to jump to a model.

To assist you with understanding the character of each bike, each one is accompanied by several graphics to indicate the terrain and events to which it is best suited, its key qualities, and which other model you might consider.

For example, while we might refer to the ONE as an aero road bike and the O2 VAM as a climbing bike, you will still have a blast on the ONE in the mountains and the O2 is a fantastic road race bike.

And of course, if you still have further questions, you can contact us by phone, email, or live chat and we will be happy to help.

What type of riding?

Mountainous road riding and racing, whether in the WorldTour or the Étape du Tour, and long rides where its comfort shines regardless of how hilly the route is.

Who is it for?

Riders looking for a superlight bike without compromise

Overview

The O2 VAM is no less than a watershed moment in bicycle design, a superlight bike that refuses to compromise. There have been very light bikes before, but invariably they have come with trade-offs, whether it’s to ride quality or the performance of weight-weenie components. The O2 VAM is engineered using technology never seen before in cycling – such as Textreme Nippon Graphite Pitch Fiber and Boron-infused frame tubes – to maintain the exceptional precision and power transfer that’s characteristic to all Factor Bikes.

Of course, while it was born for the mountains, its power transfer, crisp handling and compliant ride all mean that the O2 VAM will also deliver a fantastic experience in almost any road riding scenario.

Best at: Mountainous and hilly terrain; long road rides

Also great at: Road and crit races

Raced by: Dan Martin & Nils Pollit (Israel Start-Up Nation)

Also consider: The O2, our more affordable frameset, if you want to build your Factor with a higher spec for a given budget

What type of riding

Everything on the road, from trips to the mountains to long club runs on flat and rolling terrain, to road and crit racing

Who is it for

Riders looking for a very light and comfortable all-round road bike for a fantastic price

Overview

The new O2 is the ultimate all-rounder and arguably the best value road bike in the world. The frame uses technology and geometry from the cutting-edge O2 VAM, with a revised carbon fibre lay-up that broadens its abilities even further, and yet it is more attainable than ever.

The first generation O2 finished on the podium at both the Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix, underlining its versatility, and now we have made it even better. The new O2 can excel in the highest mountains, on the roughest cobbles, and on everything in between. The focus of the lay-up – the broad term for the type and placement of carbon fibre materials in the frame mould – is shifted towards longer rides and optimal comfort. Tyre clearance is up to 30mm, too, giving you more options for an even smoother ride. Compliant, precise, efficient, agile… You don’t put brackets around the breadth of your riding and nor does the O2.

Best at: Mountainous and hilly terrain; long road rides; gran fondos

Also great at: Road and crit races

Raced by: Team Parkhotel Valkenburg

Also consider: The even lighter O2 VAM for the ultimate climbing machine, the ViSTA if comfort matters more than speed on the road, or the ONE if pure speed is everything

What type of riding

Road racing, crits, fast club rides and chain gangs

Who is it for

Speed freaks, powerhouses, crit racers, and anyone wishing to stand out from the crowd

Overview

The ONE is the fastest aero road bike ever, attacking clear of rivals with its radically innovative design. At its core is the Twin Vane EVO downtube which handles airflow from the front wheel more effectively than a conventional design while also providing immense power transfer stiffness. These qualities are mirrored up front, where the external fork at once sharpens the steering response to new heights and improves airflow. The fork legs and seatstays adopt the same Widestance design as used on the SLiCK, and the seat-tube and seatpost feature airfoil shaping, all for optimum aerodynamics and with the singular goal of delivering your fastest ever ride.

Best at: Fast-paced races and crits, winning sprints, shredding chain gangs, getting attention

Also great at: Gran fondos, triathlon with clip-on aero bars, trips to the mountains, long club rides

Raced by: André Greipel // Rick Zabel (Israel Start-Up Nation)

Also consider: The ONE-S, if you would prefer the option to run any stem and handlebar, or the O2 VAM and O2 if lightness and compliance matter to you more than speed

Who is it for

Speed freaks, powerhouses, crit racers, and anyone wishing to stand out from the crowd…who also wants to run any stem and handlebar

Overview

The difference between the ONE and the ONE-S is simple: the ONE-S uses a conventional fork that allows the fitment of a regular stem and handlebar, opening the possibility to swap parts around or use your existing components on a new frameset.

The ONE-S uses the same frame as the ONE, which happens to be the fastest aero road bike ever thanks to its radically innovative design. At its core is the Twin Vane EVO downtube which handles airflow from the front wheel more effectively than a conventional design while also providing immense power transfer stiffness. These qualities are mirrored up front, where the external fork at once sharpens the steering response to new heights and improves airflow. Also great at: Gran fondos, triathlon with clip-on aero bars, trips to the mountains, long club rides

Also consider: The ONE, if you don’t need to change the cockpit, or the O2 if lightness and compliance matter to you more than speed

What type of riding

Triathlon and time trial racing on flat to rolling courses

Who is it for

Triathletes and time triallists seeking the most aerodynamic bike to set the fastest times

Overview

The SLiCK is focused on one thing – speed. This highly developed aero racer incorporates everything we understand about aerodynamics, including our unique and wind tunnel proven Twin Vane Evo downtube and Widestance seatstays.

But being fast is about more than slicing through the air. It’s about total system efficiency and that means ensuring that you can achieve your perfect position to be comfortable, aerodynamic and powerful on the bike, and still fresh for the run after, so the SLiCK is massively adjustable.

The ultimate triathlon bike also has to be super aerodynamic when loaded up for 180km. The SLiCK is designed with race day in mind, featuring a seat-tube mounted Carbon Stora-Pak for tools, a direct-mount toptube bag for food, and a BTA mount for your drink.

The wind already knows it’s lost.

Best at: TT/triathlon

Also great at: Ultra-distance races

Raced by: Laura Siddal (Triathlete) & Alex Dowsett (Israel Start-Up Nation)

Also consider: ONE, our aero road bike, which can be equipped with clip-on aero bars and used in all types of triathlon, including draft-legal

What type of riding

Almost everything: gravel riding and racing, back road adventures, or road riding with comfort as the priority

Who is it for

Gravel riders and racers, those who love exploring the back lanes, long-distance warriors, and anyone seeking the ultimate comfort without giving up speed

Overview

When we refer to the ViSTA as an “all-road” bike, we mean it literally. Gravel trails, broken up back lanes, or regular tarmac, the ViSTA loves it all. On-road, with big slick tyres, it’s a hugely comfortable companion for the longest days in the saddle. Fit gravel tyres and point it into the countryside, and you’ll discover its wild side – the ViSTA lives to devour the trails as fast as you like.

It was designed from scratch to deliver both exceptional smoothness – with a specific carbon lay-up, compliant kinked seatstays and a special flat-backed seatpost – and the power transfer of a road race bike. No wonder it was ridden to first and second places at the 2019 Gravel Worlds.

Best at: Gravel roads and trails

Also great at: Back lanes, long road rides

Raced by: Eric Marcotte & John Borstelman (Panaracer Factor PB BX Team)

Also consider: The O2, if you ride the back roads but not off-road and you want a racier position. The O2 can fit 30mm tyres.
