Celebrating the OSTRO VAM

More than any other model, the OSTRO VAM represents the core of Factor Bikes: the synergy of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and agility. Designed by cyclists, scientifically developed, and manufactured in our own factory, the OSTRO VAM sets the standard for the ultimate modern racing bike thanks to state-of-the-art design and engineering.

Using advanced aerodynamic principles, the development team conceived a set of focused concepts, then employed a method of rapid iteration and dynamic simulation for each to determine the best combination of shapes. This led to 111 separate simulation runs to evaluate the effect of every change, both upstream and downstream. Design ideas were assessed in three ways: in isolation, as part of a complete bike, and dynamically with moving components and a pedalling rider. 3D visualisations were generated so that the airflow could be assessed not only in-plane but across the entire 3D space. This advanced flow analysis provided greatly enhanced data to allow us to create the perfectly balanced aerodynamic performance in a lightweight package.

Although we have heavily focused on aerodynamic gains, we never lost sight of the need for precision handling in the sprints, unforgiving roads, and pinpoint weight management to conquer the mountains. 

Meant for racers

Each OSTRO VAM has been designed to offer the highest level of performance for the most elite athletes in the world. That means no compromises have been made in terms of offering the sharpest handling and responsive acceleration. The OSTRO VAM provides an aggressive ride quality, which is also mirrored by the pro-oriented geometry. This is a bike designed to withstand the toughest racing conditions, with riders putting out huge watts. In other words, it’s a pure racing machine dedicated to performance at the highest levels.

Nevertheless, you don’t need to be a pro or even plan on racing to appreciate an OSTRO VAM. All you need is the desire to test the limits and find new levels of fitness. Designed to be fast above all else, the OSTRO VAM has played a pivotal role in some of the biggest victories our teams have earned by providing essential performance in all conditions.

“I like to joke I waited till I retired from the road to get the best road bike of my career,” Rob Britton said. “Riding the OSTRO VAM, it’s been just an awesome journey with Factor.” Even if Rob is one of Factor’s premier gravel athletes, his road roots go deep, and he recognises what makes a great dropbar bike fast and formidable.

Similarly, Factor Chief Brand Officer, David Millar has frequently credited the OSTRO VAM for helping fall in love again with fast road riding. “After retiring, I took a long break from the bike,” Millar explained. “Once I started cycling again, I was riding on mountain bikes and gravel. I hadn’t any great desire or need for a fast bike. And then when I got back on the OSTRO VAM, I was like, ‘Oh, the feeling of speed, this is what I loved so much’ and it really reignited my passion for the road.”

Race Focused, Performance Driven

For 2026, Factor will again have multiple teams racing on the OSTRO VAM, most notably Human Powered Health in the Women’s WorldTour, Modern Adventure Pro Cycling in the men’s ProTour, as well as Factor Racing in the men’s Continental Tour.

And already in the 2026 season, Human Powered Health’s Maggie Coles-Lyster has taken an impressive win aboard the OSTRO VAM. She won the reduced bunch sprint at the Santos Tour Down Under - Women's One Day Race in January. And the riders from Modern Adventure Pro Cycling continue to impress with top performances at the AlUla Tour, UAE Tour, and Vuelta a Andalucia against some of the strongest cyclists in the WorldTour.

Both Human Powered Health and Modern Adventure Pro Cycling will find numerous opportunities to shine this season in WorldTour races, with Modern Adventure even being selected for Paris-Roubaix, the toughest terrain in road racing.
