Exclusive OSTRO VAM by Maisie Wilen

Designed for Disruptors

To celebrate the third edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Human Powered Health, Factor Bikes, and Pactimo combined forces with fashion house Maisie Wilen to create a very special change-out kit and matching OSTRO VAM for the Human Powered Health athletes competing at the Tour. Special matching Smith’s Trace, Ignite and Jetstream helmet models and custom Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT and ROAM computers will complete the ensemble.

Los Angeles-based Maisie Wilen fashion house, founded by Maisie Schloss in 2019, has made a name for itself in the fashion world as an innovator and disruptor, which are two traits that also suit Factor Bikes and Human Powered Health Cycling. Since it’s the first time a famous fashion designer has created the change-out kit for a team in the women’s peloton, Human Powered Health wanted to be certain they made a powerful statement highlighting the strength of its riders and indeed all women athletes competing at the Tour.

“For Human Powered Health, women’s cycling represents the pinnacle of endurance athletics. As women’s sports enjoy long overdue growth and greater exposure around the world, we felt that it was the perfect time to celebrate with Maisie’s standout design work,” Human Powered Health Managing Director Charles Aaron said.

Finding the right partner

Los Angeles-based Maisie Wilen began as “a brand of basics for maximalists” and presents biannually at New York Fashion Week. It has collaborated with mega brands including Mattel and Yahoo. Known as a celebrity favorite, Maisie Wilen has been worn by innumerable stars such as Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Winnie Harlow, Camila Mendes and Charlie XCX.

Maisie has dressed Megan Rapinoe and many athletes have been mainstays at her runway shows, but this will be her first foray into women’s cycling. Her signature style, which combines cool graphics with figure-hugging silhouettes, is perfect for cycling’s aesthetics, and will help to highlight the powerful women racing up some of the most iconic climbs in France.

“I immediately jumped at the opportunity to bring Maisie Wilen’s unique aesthetic to one of the biggest women’s sporting events in the world,” said Schloss. “Human Powered Health Cycling is made up of such inspiring, strong athletes and I’m honored to be a part of this incredible event.”

A Factor frame to match

By now Factor’s design team have had a lot of experience in translating inspiring kit motifs onto our sleek and sculpted frames. Special Limited Editions like the Team Amani x Rapha bike, the Parkhotel Valkenburg, and the Vini Fantini Giro Edition all speak to the skill our designers and graphics experts use when transferring a textile color scheme onto carbon fiber frames.

The flowing design mixes white, orange, purple and navy blue via a pattern that represents fish scales, used to evoke the aerodynamics of fish moving through water. The theme pairs well with the natural attributes of the OSTRO VAM, which is slippery in the wind and lithe on the climbs.
