Factor O2 VAM

For modern bike design, low weight and aerodynamic performance have often worked at cross purposes; the more aero the frames became, the heavier they got. The Factor O2 VAM explodes that dichotomy with aero-efficiency while remaining incredibly lightweight.

Though it shares the O2 name with Factor’s first ever climber’s bike, it is another level in our technological progress. Of course, the original O2 was a lightweight phenomenon, winning mountain stages at the Tour de France and taking podium places at Paris-Roubaix. Even then, the O2 was unique and in a class of its own.

Going sub-700 grams

But our engineers knew that they could make improvements. Not only could the O2 VAM be lighter, but it could be more aerodynamic. To accomplish this, we built a whole new factory with state-of-the-art facilities, tooling, and materials. Hours of labour and multiple test iterations have resulted in the current O2 VAM, one of the first ever sub-700 gram disc brake bikes that offers a tangible aero advantage.

Sven Aleksander Mernik, Factor Racing: “I chose the O2 VAM bike after thoroughly testing different models. The most important factors in my decision were the bike’s geometry, stiffness, and weight. The O2 VAM suits me better because of its geometry, which is more aggressive or “climber-oriented.” It allows me to set up the bike more easily and make the most of its potential, especially in mountain stages but also on flat races.

I also appreciate its stiffness and low weight, which are particularly important for maximising power transfer and making the bike easier to handle.”
