HANZŌ Track

World Class Fast

Fast track to success

When one of the top track racing countries in the world requests that we design the fastest track bike in the world, the Factor HANZŌ Track is the result. In development for over 2 years, raced at the highest level on the biggest stage in the world, the HANZŌ Track pursuit racing bike is the absolute pinnacle of streamline speed.

Tailor made for the Australian national track team, the HANZŌ Track offers ultra-efficient aerodynamics while maintaining supreme rigidity for power transfer. We’ve accomplished this by maintaining the stiffness in the layup while meticulously developing the aerodynamic design. As a pure pursuit racing bike, aerodynamics and straight-line speed are the ultimate goal.

Developed in tandem with the Black Inc Zero Track wheels, the HANZŌ Track proves to be an elite tool for world record performances.

Aerodynamic efficiency

The HANZŌ Track underwent a 2 year long development process to fine tune the interaction of the air flow between the bike and athlete. We converged on a radical concept that positions the legs of the fork wide to better manage the airflow around the rider's moving legs, and to produce cleaner airflow in the channel between the frame and the rider. The wide seatstays capture air off the legs and maintain the flow conditions in open channel. The cleaner air around the bike allowed us to optimize the interactive aerodynamic effect of the Black Inc Zero’s, creating a symbiotic equation for speed.

Straight-line speed and rigidity

The importance of enhancing the aerodynamics of the HANZŌ Track is finely balanced with the need to maintain the frame’s stiffness which ensures efficient power transfer under the highest loads produced by cyclists anywhere in the world. Taking advantage of our inhouse expertise in carbon-layup and developed in our own R&D facility, the frame’s material has been precisely placed throughout to ensure the highest level of rigidity. The sculpted frame uses massive chainstays to promote power efficiency while the shaping around the bottom bracket ensures smooth transition of pedaling forces through long-fiber orientation.

Black Inc ZERO Track

In collaboration with Aus Cycling, we’ve designed the Black Inc ZERO Track disc wheel to be as stiff as possible. To enhance rigidity while reducing weight, the wheels feature buttressed internal flanges, creating shear walls between the opposite wheel faces. This new technology allowed for the elimination of several stiffness plies in the overall layup. Extreme attention to detail in the alignment, cutting, and layout of the top layer of Spread Tow fibers (TexTreme) enabled us to eschew any cosmetic outer layer, further reducing weight. Results from extensive wind tunnel testing with the Aus Cycling project showed that a polished finish proved to be the most aerodynamic.

Facilitating your burst of speed

Developed in the controlled environment of a wind tunnel to excel in the controlled environment of a velodrome, the HANZŌ Track focuses on high speed aerodynamics over relatively short distances and time, illustrating the symbiotic nature of track racing where rider and equipment become one.

Swept-back seat post

The HANZŌ Track swept-back seat post acts as a key enabler in next-level drag reduction of the rider-bike system. The seat post is positioned to maximize that space between the rider's legs and the leading edge of the post, within the UCI allowable regulations. The result: reduced drag on riders legs, and cleaner flow around the seatpost area.

Sculpted front end

By reducing the frontal area, we’ve designed the narrowest possible leading edge. Optimized according to the newest UCI rules, the resulting narrow head tube dramatically reduces drag, enhancing straight-line speed essential for a pursuit track bike.

Specially developed base bar

Aerodynamically conceived considering the symbiotic relationship between rider, bike, and environment, the HANZŌ Track’s specially developed in-house one-piece base bar shape facilitates flow along the top-tub of the bike. nesting the top tube seamlessly in the stem/bar's wake.

With the main focus being on the rider and bike as a system, the exaggerated wide fork legs are meticulously positioned to stir the airflow around the rider’s legs.

To accommodate the super thin head tube, we’ve specially designed the bearings so that they can be positioned within the narrow confines of the steering column.

Having focused on minimizing the cross section of the front end, we have succeeded in reducing the net aerodynamic drag of the area exposed to undisturbed airflow.

The head tube is extended underneath the fork crown and works like a rudder to reduce the gap to the wheel, ensuring a consistent shape around the wheel to keep airflow smooth.
